Greetings everyone!
Went to add gas to my car a few weeks ago and the cover was stuck closed. Ended up breaking the tab that holds the cover closed and can't figure out how to get to the little unit that is supposed to release the cover when I pull on the gas icon button on the inside of the driver's door. I have looked at a few you tube videos that show how to get to the unit on S60's, but if the location is the same on V70's, do I need to remove the inside back/side panel behind the rear passenger seat?
Appreciate your replies!

Just need to clarify what you are trying to access? If you are trying to access the servo motor for the release mechanism, yes you have to remove the inner panel. It is also easier done with 2 people as you have to remove, and then eventually replace the motor which needs holding from inside in place while the 2 x T25? screws are removed from the outside.
Do you here the servo click when you pull the release tab on the driver's door?
If not, then removing the servo motor to check is is not gundged up is worth doing. Clean the little plunger lock with silicone oil and work it back and forward. You can try a small battery on it (9V), to see if it moves. If it does, the next place to check is the door harness on the driver's side. Remove the inner panel so you can access the fuel flap tab connector, remove the T10? screw from the door harness at the 'A' pillar and disconnect the harness (after battery is disconnected!) and buzz out the wires. I can't recall if the button passes through something on the way to the 'A' pillar and so the wire color may change. The wires in the driver's door harness like to break usually withing 0-3" of the connector for the harness at the 'front of the door.
I posted recently (I think for Clemens) a simple how to on removing the rear inner panel. Robert DIY may also have something on this.
I can't recall how the clip on the door is replaced.
Neil.

A quick update:
I sprayed some PB blaster into the nozzle that sticks out (that the tab hooks onto) and pulled the release button a few times. A few hours later, I tried the release button again, and the darn thing actually worked. I heard the sound of it working, and my other set of eyes (my brother was visiting!) confirmed the lock plunger that moves back and forth was doing just that! I was rather excited as I really did not want to start taking panels off and messing with the wiring!
I did have a replacement latch for one of those "just in case" moments! After the next fill-up I'll insert the latch.
Appreciate all your replies and sharing!

Glad to hear it was a simple fix. One thing you should also hear is a small click from the left side of the dashboard when you pull the release which means the onboard relay is working.
