1995 850 turbo

Post by Boostedbricks912 »

I can't seem to find anything online about it so here goes. I am currently on my second trans on my 850 since the first one lost reverse. The replacement is from a junk yard. And after the install and complete fluid change the trans shifts great under normal driving, but under wot first to second gear shift is delayed or hesitates about 1 to 2 seconds at redline before it decides to shift, I've put about 2k miles on this trans and did another complete fluid change and the problem is still there any input would be greatly appreciated thnx.

Use a VIDA laptop to run the adaptations, letting the car relearn the new transmission. Search the forum for posts about how to do it. Once the relearn is started, it requires you to drive at specific speeds for specific times, triggering specific shifts. Best done in a large industrial park on a weekend with a co-pilot double checking.

Wow, those are nice Columba wheels. Ties in nicely with the black hood. Nice job.

'95 is too old for VIDA.
You could try a drain / refill x3 and see if that helps.

A junkyard trans has unknown history.

How does it drive between 1/4 and 3/4 throttle? Run it for about 5-10k , if there isn’t a lot of clutch material in the fluid, then a new valve body and solenoids *** might*** help those WOT shifts

I don't think that the valve body itself would go bad. I would just replace the 1-2 shift solenoid ( maybe do both since you're already in there ). Not an expensive part.
The valve body, on the other hand, could cost $$$, based on what I've read.
