I have to give a shout out to MVS member 454cid. He sniffed out an AI post by a spam bot and hit the "Report Post" link. VERY high detective skills here.

It seems like your car is experiencing extended cranks and difficulty starting in cold temperatures. While there are various potential solutions suggested by different people, it's essential to troubleshoot the issue methodically. Start by considering the following steps:

1. Check if a 99+ fuel pressure regulator is compatible with your 98 model. If it is, you can try swapping it out.

2. Replace the fuel pump relay if you can find one, as it's a relatively inexpensive part that might be contributing to the problem.

3. If necessary, consider replacing the coolant temperature sensor.

4. Compression issues are less likely, given that the engine holds the car in 1st gear on a hill. However, it's always a good idea to confirm this through a proper compression test to rule out any issues.

Remember, diagnosing and resolving automotive issues can be complex, so it might take some trial and error to find the exact cause. If you're on a tight budget, try the more affordable solutions first before moving on to more expensive parts replacements.

Way cool, but how can one tell that it's a AI post, and not legit ? Clues please :)

You can tell an AI post from a real poster using the following points.

1. Perfect tabulation and grammar are rare in real posts.

2 There are a number of commercial AI detection software routines available online.

3 Choose Cheaper methods of AI detection before the more expensive modes, then ….

It's too perfect, building on what abscate said.

It is interesting that your member found a AI post.

1 There are a number of software products that can help you identify AI.

2 There are inexpensive and more expensive solutions for AI detection.

3 God makes Scots just a wee bit better.

Human edit. I’ve noticed everything on AI is hedged so much as to be basically useless.

Just something else fun to worry about. Heck, I still can't honestly say if the development of nuclear energy was a net positive.
Something tells me it wasn't. Reminds me of children playing with loaded guns.
Fingers crossed.....

Neil.
Great question Neil! To me the advice is entirely reasonable, though I can't remember the thread it came from to judge contextual accuracy.

I might modify my handling of these AI posts in the future... perhaps leave the post and nuke the user.

Why nuke user? Because of this: why is someone somewhere (I can reverse lookup posting IPs so geolocation isn't a vast mystery) doing this? Why would someone use their time and resources to make an AI post to a forum? It's not out of the generosity of their heart.

I think it's what I would term a Forum Trojan, where the AI looks like a normal helpful human so we let it though the city gates, then one day it slowly ramps up spam, like links in signature or links in future posts.

But I have to also consider another scenario: Google will see these also, and probably has the capability to spot AI posts. If it sees them, it'll probably, likely rate MVS a little lower in rankings because of it. I think. It's still early days. Perhaps Google will, or already has, considered AI to occasionally be helpful, even if the AI's ultimate purpose is to spam.

As I'm fond of saying, "there are a lot of balls in the air" (juggling).

Oh, I'm 100% on the user having potential nefarious reasons to wanting to have access and the fact someone thinks it is ok to use this on MVS is unacceptable. So kicking them out is 100% correct in my opinion.

I should use AI on my notes as they may actually make sense and be punctuated and spelt correctly..........!

Good work guys!
