I really miss Benjamin sometimes.

Nial popped an ABS light today on the way to the in-laws'. Then a 1/4 mile back, the CEL joined it. I turned around and peeked under the hood to find a hissing coolant overflow hose and after tightening the wee clamp until the bubbles stopped, my test drive around the neighborhood turned the ABS light off but CEL remained (sans handy words in the oh crap window).

After much protesting from the wife and in-laws to stay the night there (it was nearly 1am), I explained to Mrs. Hands-on-hips that the CEL was on because Nial's computers detected something weird and wanted me to note it. The light was not red or flashing so it was okay to drive on (car not on fire and no tell-tale gushing fluids either). I further explained it was possible the computer would cycle the same test and turn the light off if no fault was found. In my head I said I needed the computer gerbils to give me more information.

On the way home Nial was butter-smooth on the highway and gave me no further trouble. Of course the ABS light reappeared to keep the CEL company.

Tomorrow I will break out the VIDA and Dice and try harder to make it work (last time I couldn't get it to connect). I will be having a long talk with Nial about what constitutes an appropriate gift. "Nial, I bought you brand new 4C suspension for Christmas, this is appropriate; ABS and CEL...not so much, buddy."

You can pop a CEL from a ABS fault so it might just be a sticky from the ABS code ( wheel sensor, I bet, since you don’t corrode tone rings down there in Atlanta-stan)

Going to be down your way in March , according to Google calendar btw

Oh sweet! Thank you for that info and I'd love to have a meet and greet with you and the warwagon if you have time. Assuming you're driving...

My imagination says you're coming down to play in the junkyards but I bet it's something more grownup and boring than that.

I'll let you know about the lights. I did buy a VIDA and Dice setup from Dave but I've managed to break it already so I'm waiting on tech support to remote in and tell me I changed a setting somehow. It's a gift.

Flight into Hotlanta, no driving over 4 hours. Boston is as far as I go. I’ve abused my body 4 Million miles on Untied so they have made me “ special”

I’m nowhere near the real high milers. One of my fellow travelers is > 20 Million miles

My goal is to fall out of every hotel program by staying with friends worldwide

Unfortunately , the hotels give you automatic status once you get airline status. Maybe there is way to renounce it?

This is in contrast to pulling up to a Motel 6 in a sketchy industrial area off the Interstate and instead of an office/lobby there's a bulletproof glass teller window on the outside? Triple deadbolts on the room doors?

That was a fun trip.
