I've put together a word processing file with pictures and text that I'd like to get into a continuous file with smaller size jpg photos.
Using Mac OS, I can't get images to copy into textedit, either plain text or .rtf
Suggestions welcome!

Could you use the Pages app instead of textedit?

We used to do a lot in pages. Older version of pages (pages 09) had a nice way of formatting pictures and max has an export feature in preview to resize the document to be smaller. Makes it easy to do picture heavy documents.

Plain text is just that -- only text (no formatting of the text styles even).
.rtf is Rich Text Format -- allows text styling.
Any new document you create in TextEdit will be .rtf.
When you paste a photo in it asks you this:
Click convert, and you can type and paste in photos until you pass out.

Is it hampering your writing? Once your writeup becomes a post here, the photos will fit naturally/normally.
If it's not stopping you, I'd live with it. The alternative is going down the rabbit hole of resizing.
Or you could just write. Where you want the photos to go, type PHOTO 1 and PHOTO 2, etc. And then send everything to me.

You can also make a short post and attach the (.rtfd or .psd) file... I can't remember if you said you wanted to do it that way?

Okay, thanks for the suggestions!
What worked for me was visually reducing the size of the original photos in Preview; taking screenshots of those reduced original photos and dragging png thumbnails of the screenshots directly into my Textedit file. Formatting, like you said, is very straightforward.
The entire file is about 9 megs, so I'll just try to drop it into a page on your site—after giving it one more read through tomorrow

I copy/pasted the .rtf file into an MVS site page. It lost all formatting and the pictures don't display, just an icon in their place.
What's nice about the .rtf is the whole composition with formatting is on one long page.
If I save the file as PDF, it opens in Preview with page breaks which break up the formatting.
Now I'm not sure how to get it on the site as one continuous composition with pictures showing as I formatted it.
Suggestions?
