S80 problem: engine stalls

Post by Ben Gosh »

:( My S80 2000 (purchased new, 70K miles) has a recurrent problem where the engine stalls when I make a turn at slow speed and gas pedal barely pressed. Turning the ignition switch starts the car without any problem. Still, this is a major problem, especially when it happens at a busy intersection.

The car has been to the dealer many times over the past 2 1/2 years. Every time another cause is identified and "fixed" only for the problem to return a few days or weeks later.

Any experience/advice with this problem?

Thanks in advance

Yes, i had this problem MANY times. Very annoying and it bothered me terrilby especially at an intersection with My son in the car.

The problem was detected in the TURBO lines. Very expensive to fix.

I also have a 2000 S80 T6. Every now and then I lose power and it says performance loss. The car is still running, but barley. If I turn the car off it wont start right away. But after a few times it starts right up. Ive taken it to the dealers and every time they tell me it is something else. They never can seem to find out what the real problem is. Im getting really frustrating, it has cost me a lot. :( Does anyone really know what can fix this problem.

The same happened to my 2000 S80, less than 40K mi. Throttle unit, driven by a motor was bad and was replaced. Numerous different problems with this car - strut mount broke, overheat problem, numerous computer module problems & warning messages, intermittent remote garage opener ...

I really have nothing to add. Only that this is happening to me. I'm assuming that it is the throttle body. Does anyone have any idea on the cost for repair?

I just recently brought a 2004 S80. While doing my research on the car, I came across several articals in Consumer Report that calls the 2000 S80 a lemon, and to avoid that car. But that in future dates, the S80 has resolved many of its initial problems in the 2000 models. Thime to trade those 2000 in.

The same situation is happening on my car that I just purchased, it seems that the stalling of the engine only occurs when i go on long hauls and come down to slow speeds and yes especially when i make a turn.
Is there a fix up for it I don't know, but i think we should consider making it a possible recall, because of the danger it presents if it stalls in traffic.
