So once again I made the mistake of going to the junkyard and surprisingly found not one (as advertised) but actually 2 x 850 NA's.
One had the front of the controller for the heating system missing. I am not particularly familiar with the ECC system as we don't see it much up here. The fan motor for the heating system was 'different', so naturally my curiosity got the better of me so it came home, as did the weird looking item that was in the position of the familiar Resistor 'pack' as on the ECC systems. The car was a 97 NA SE as far as I could tell with nice black leather seats.
The other car was no newer than 96 (non-turbo GLT), but as I didn't pull the vin# I will not know as this yard does not have them on line like PnP, and as this car was not listed anyway..........!
I am guessing now that it may be a 95 or older car. Reason is that a fellow MVS'er was looking for the resistor pack for a 95 ECC system.
The part number they gave me was: # 9134932. I checked this on a variety of websites and even the Volvo sites came back as correct for 93-97 ECC cars. The one in the junkyard car was not this?? It is # 9144354?? Again it came home as it is an anomaly.
When I look this up on FCP it lists this fits 93-95 cars only and is discontinued. But Volvo parts list it as for 93-97???
I may have failing memory, but was there an ECC part change in 94-95? Does it even matter?
As I don't have access to an 850, is there anyway to possibly do some, even basic test to check the part out?
2nd Part: MCC cabin fan unit? - How to test??
This is a weird looking thing. The ECC units I have tested in my R and no longer buy any as I have too many. This however is weird and unusual so I like to keep that to hand for others.
Above you can see the wiring on this fan. Is there anyway I can bench test this? I have a variable Voltage (0-30V) power supply.
Any idea how to wire it for testing?
Lastly:
850 center console multi-switch for electric windows and door mirrors.
Again a request for the control unit which has part of the center console wiring harness hard-wired into it. It was interconnected with the whole console harness so I pulled the whole thing including a random relay that mounts to the side of the parking brake lever inside the console. I'm guessing it is only possible to test continuity possibly?
Any help or guidance is appreciated!
Neil.

Almost thinking I should do like I did with the audio systems in P80's and collect parts and wiring connectors and build a test system for these parts. With the price of shipping rising by the second, it would be good to be able to test the system parts without having to keep disassembling our car. I have several ECC units, cabin temp sensors, resistor packs, external temp sensors and in-line temp sensors, so most of the parts to be able to do this! Hm.................! Just need to go harvest a bunch of connectors!
Then it is a simple (
) case of figuring out the wiring harness to connect all the parts. Well that would be another long term winter project!
