How does 3D printing produce a texture? Does it only print at certain high spots?

Great question. The textured surface you see is from the print bed itself. It is a textured PEI print bed; the surface roughness helps promote adhesion to prevent warping during printing. Thankfully it also produces a beautiful finish. We do also paint the surface with a light brushing of acetone to better homogenize the finish.
