2004 Volvo C70 head unit upgrade

Post by jamesmorgan »

I'm getting a 2004 Volvo C70 HT for an amazing price and I'm very excited. I would like to if possible get Bluetooth (Android auto is a plus) in this car. Does anybody know of a head unit that is a relatively plug-and-play replacement for the original one?

The OEM is made by Alpine and
designed specifically for the car.
You have several options for
porting in audio via the 6 disc
changer input. There are many
posts here about it.

Search SC-901 Bluetooth.

For all 3 of my 98 & 99 volvos with 2 x 816, and 1 x 900 Head units I just use a Bluetooth to FM converter plugged into the cigarette lighter. Works great. Tune to an unused frequency on the FM band. Match on the adapter device. Pair your phone to the adapter. I like mine because it as a physical knob to advance or replay songs in my play list. It also has a phone answer function that routes sound to the driver's side of the audio system.

What brand of FM transmitter are you using if I may ask? My son had one and it fried after a few weeks and took out a couple of fuses. I am wary fitting another until I find one that someone else can recommend.

Thanks,

Neil.

This is the one I use. The only issue is under some very bright sunlight conditions the display is a little washed out. If you don't need to adjust the frequency it is not an issue. It usually just syncs up as soon as I sit in the car with my phone and the HU is tuned to the matched frequency. Enjoy.
