Hello You All,
I have a 2011 XC60 T6 with approximately 140,000 miles on it. It runs great with no error messages or codes. But, lately when I first start it up I notice a sharp 'clack' that repeats every 4-5 seconds. I haven't isolated the source location exactly, but it seems internal to the engine on the driver's side (left hand drive model). Once the engine gets a little warm, it goes away and the car always runs fine. It's a loud single clack. It doesn't sound like a noise that could come from the valves. Can anyone suggest what it could be, or how I should deal with it? I'm wondering if it's the timing chain.

It could be the tensioner for the timing. I am not familiar with the P3 engines, but I think I recall my buddy (ex-Volvo mechanic) saying there was an issue with these. I will contact him and see if he can clarify.
