Driver's Window Bracket and Rivets- 1993 240 Wagon

Post by vlv245PHL »

The small front bracket has come off the driver's window on my 1993 240 wagon (please see photos).  The bracket had been riveted to the channel that's attached to the bottom of the window.  The bracket has a hole that engages a pin on the window regulator.  I'm going to try to press it back on and re-peen the rivets and maybe add some epoxy.  But I not sure that will work.  Another possibility would be to remove the channel from the window. Then I could possibly replace the rivets or put bolts in their place. But the channel is attached to the window with some rubbery material and I'm not sure that it's possible to easily remove and reattach the channel.  Does anyone have any experience with this?  Thanks

I have not had this bracket fall off, but I have repaired many other window regulators. If you remove the elastomer, first mark the channel and window to get them back in proper position. I would use an exterior caulk to reposition the glass.
While the channel is loose, try to use small bolts and nuts to attach the bracket. The head will need to be very thin.
Or just get another window from the salvage yard.
