Came back from my Adventure in the Pacific, stumbled over a lightly wrecked '69 1800, fixed it and put 500,000 miles on it, no mercy shown whatsoever. Never left me walking. Death by rust in the front frame rails behind the steering box - back when they were just old used cars and there wasn't much support.

Whoa, a half mil... :shock:

Have any photos? This was in the 1970s? 1980s? My brain requires details.

(I KNOW there is a happy medium between old Volvos and where we are now with computers, huge screens, and no buttons, and when I read things like this I can't help but get on my soap box. I KNOW we can have our cake and eat it too. Apologies.)

Manual transmission + no computers + solid design + basic carburetor + plentiful parts supply + DIY owner + good rust proofing = 500,000 miles.
