More than P0455 issue?

Post by Surfmullet »

My 2001 S60 2.4T is throwing a P0455 code. I have replaced my evap canister, all of the sensors including the one directly upstream the evap canister, the MAF, and all the upstream and downstream lines. I even replaced both fuel rubber lines that goes into the fuel tank. I have no smell of gas when I’m driving so I doubt that it’s the fuel sensor seals. I have even bought a new fuel cap but I’m suspecting it’s still the fuel cap area issue because my service light throws a “”Fuel Cap is open or loose” and then turns off after I reset the check engine light with my BlueDriver scan tool. Any suggestions as to how to get a better seal at the fuel neck? Or in general, anything else that I missed?

If I get a DICE and VIDA, can I change something in the Computer to make sure that this isn’t an issue anymore? I’m pretty sure there is nothing wrong with my smog system anymore but I’m at my wits end on this hobby car.

Any help would be appreciated.

I bought a couple of new gas caps recently and also got " Fuel cap is loose or open". These newer caps have a larger rubber gasket that get twisted out of shape if over tightened. My older caps clicked when tightened. The newer caps work fine if they are just snugged down.

Thanks for responses, gents.
Mr. jonesg- Thanks for the DIY smoke suggestion. It doesn’t hurt to double check to see that my work is done correctly.

Mr. ignatz - Thanks for that knowledge. I’ll check my o-rings and make sure that I don’t overtighten. I did notice that it was twisted the last time I put gas in the tank.

Have you inspected the condition of the cover for the fuel pump assembly under the rear seats?

Much of my time during the job is spent hauling things up and down the stairs to the basement or in and out of the storage shed, or running back downstairs when I realize I need something else,or taking a break from standing out in the sun,or using flashlights or work lamps when it gets dark.
