'98 V70 Glt - Removing Scuffs in Paint

Post by Alwick »

I've got some scuffs in my paint (black of course) from where I used an ice scraper after a particularily nasty ice storm last winter.
I would like to get rid of them and am curious about prefered products/methods.
I've used 3M Finish Restorer in the past on other vehicles to good effect. I was planning to do one scuff with this as a test, hand buff it and then a nice wax job.
Any thoughts? Other products I should try?
Thanks!

Not too bright.
Anyway, just try any automotive polish. If that doesn't work you just try again with a stronger polish.
If NO polish works then you go with a light compound but if it's just scuffs, polish should get them off/out

Maybe instead of telling me how dumb I am you can give a better suggestion as to how to remove 2" of ice when it's 20 degrees out and you're about to drive 100 miles?

There's a product called "Scratch X" https://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-SCRATCH- ... B000CNO39E. It's designed for situations like this, and i've had fine luck with it. If you have a black car, your entire car would benefit from a work-over with this product. After using it, make sure to follow it up with a high-quality wax/polish.

I suppose I don't understand.
You remove the ice off the glass or were you trying to get an iced door open?
If so, I suppose I apologize, but I sure hope it was limited to just one door
...and I did give you an answer (on the "scuffs"), did that work?

Try polishing compound first (it will take off less paint than rubbing compound). You can also one of those electric orbital buffers (Walmart) for more severe scratches. It may look so good you'll have to do the whole car.
