Oil pressure light; 95' 850 GLT

Post by Wes850GLT »

A few months ago when I fixed my odometer I had the instrument cluster on my kitchen table working on it when I noticed that there was an empty slot for an oil pressure warning light. There were bulbs in every other (or most other) slots (check engine, service, etc.).

If I were to install a bulb in this slot would the Oil pressure warning light function or is this just an option that my model doesn't have?

Anybody know?

Thanks,

Wes

Yes,

The oil pressure warning lamp is functional on all models. The trick is to find the proper lamps.

Yes, the oil pressure light is functional on all models. It is near the next to the coolant and battery check lights.

Only on the 93 850, they had a OIL level low light which is on the opposite side of the cluster (from the oil pressure light).

Putting a bulb there won't magically give you this function as only the 1993 850 had the oil level sensor, no other model year had it.

Anyone have any idea why my bulb wasn't there? The Volvo was a one owner when I got it with all service records from the dealer (they had taken it there for all of the scheduled maintainance).

hah! I would have worried about that had I known when i bought the car that this particular bulb was missing. But I've personally put over 50k on it with no engine problems.

CORRECTION! I was wrong about which bulb was missing. My oil pressure light is functional (the light with the picture of the oil can). The bulb that is missing is labeled "Low Oil Level". Anyone know if this service light is functional on this vehicle?

That lamp was only functional on 1993 models.
