CAn you install a turbo charger system for 850 se non turbo

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

CAn you install a turbo charger system for 850 se non turbo

Post by blue_v70 »

Can we? Would it need the volvo turbo parts or can we use other turbo brand like garett? My 850 seems to lack a bit of juice, heard it has the same engine as v70 but my 06 v70 accelerate faster and its a non turbo.

Regards

Engine is different. To really do it right you'd have to rebuild your engine, add an intercooler and change out the radiator to accompany the turbo with the cooler lines, then of course the turbo and turbo hoses, not to mention the ECU. You're better off (cheaper) selling your 850 and buying one already turbo charged.

I did think about that but not many T5 sold in Australia bro, and when they are advertised, usually priced ridiculously high.

I bought this car for Au$7000 (around US$4500) and the t5 can go up to $17000(around US)$12000

Did some research locally, you are right, its not as simple as putting the turbo in but other mod must be done, will cost a lot.

I am thinking about just to change the chip, had a look on chip article in this forum website too and got some idea in my head but, the question is, would it be just a clean swap or???

Thanks in advance

Changing the ECU or having it chipped also doesn't work....the purpose of the chip is to up the boost....with no turbo there is no boost to up. Either be content with your non-turbo....get 10 more hp or so by changing intake and downpipe setup or find another turbo'd 850...you don't have to get a T5....low pressure turbo with ECU chip is very fast.
