Help! I am desperately looking to avoid the San Diego Volvo car "stealership" for a repair involving the turbo on my 1995 850 Turbo Wagon.
Anyone having recommendations? THANKS!
Trustworthy mechanic in San Diego?
I am actually in the process of looking for one too. I need to replace a wheel bearing on one of the wheels on my Volvo V70 (2002). San Diego Volvo quoted me at $600 and I feel like this is too much...
I will let you know if I find one...will you do the same?

Yes, of course!
I'm thinking of going to the Volvo specialist in the Miramar area at Eastgate Mall and Miramar Blvd., behing the 76 gas station. I'm just hoping someone has tried him before. Or else, I know there's a Volvo specialist in Encinitas, too...
Ah... San Diego Volvo!

Ok, well, just in case you weren't aware of the website cartalk.com, have a look! It's worth it! On there, for one thing, I read reviews about Independent Volvo Saab Jeep (5824 Autoport Mall, SD 92121). Last time I checked they were unfortunately closed on Saturdays.
I'll give it a try, and post back.

Alright, if you want to avoid San Diego Volvo and get repairs at a fraction of the cost by competent mechanics... I just tried Independent Volvo Saab Jeep, 5824 Autoport Mall, San Diego CA 92121. Those people ARE competent. They speak a language that everyone can understand. Not only that, but they won't replace a part that doesn't need to. AND they won't even overcharge for whatever needs to be done.
For instance, they fixed my ignition switch (for the first time I was told THAT WAS CAUSING a Check Engine code!!!!) for 140$ installed. The part itself is about 75$ on the Internet, so I figure that's reasonable.
Too bad I'm moving overseas late December and will have to sell my Volvo 850, because I would have kept it forever and ever, maintained by those guys.
