2003 S40 paint

Is anyone else encountering paint problems on their 2003 S40? My midnight blue is pitting, scratching, FLAKING, crackling down to the white at an alarming rate seemingly without any major reasons. I don't mean dings and bangs which are normal wear and tear scars. It also looks as if the spray quit below the beltline on each door as well when the car was painted. Have had many Volvos in my life and for long periods of time but this is a first for me and I know of no one with the same problem even on older, sometimes neglected Volvos.
