Hello! I just received a '91 automatic Volvo 740 wagon, NOT a turbo, in remarkably good shape considering it's been sitting idle for the past year-and-a-half. I need to find & install a driver's side mirror so I can get the car inspected.
Any help (or direction to a post elsewhere on this site I couldn't find) on how to install the mirror once I find one would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

You didnt mention if this is a power mirror manual.
the mirror as all volvo mirrors starts from the inside. Remove the triangular piece #13 on the diagram by gently prying it off.
Then you will see the bolts which hold the unit in #10.
Once you do that you can pull the mirror off from the outside. (make sure you hold on to it so it doesnt flop to the ground while you do this). You will have to push the control cables through the grommet so the unit slides out.
For a power mirror its a bit more involved because you usually have to remove the interior door trim to get to the wires which connect to controls to disconnect the unit inside the door panel.
Also if the mirror is just broken you can buy a universal replacement glass even from your local auto store.. they usually just stick on the broken one with double sided tape. Good solution if you need it done fast!
If you cant find a mirror assembly at your local junk yard.. i have one.. whats your location? Message me if your interested.
Good luck on the inspection!

That is a beautiful diagram! Thanks! The mirror, thankfully, is manual.
I don't think just replacement glass would work for the inspection, because the outer housing itself is destroyed. I find they tend to be picky around here (Massachusetts.)
Thanks again! If I can't find a mirror at the junkyard, I'll send you a message.
