I like what Ipd did with their 2001 V70, and I'd like to get the same effect with the exterior trim, however they don't sell the trim pieces on their website! They call it "monochromatic color match body trim", I'm thinking it might be a DIY that they did with touch-up paint that they sell. I don't know how to paint those pieces, or remove them and whether I need primer or to sand the texture out of the plastic, or to send it to a $$$ paint shop. Their project is posted on their website, and the people on their phone lines won't look up their project cars over the phone. http://www.ipdusa.com/projectcar.asp?PC_ID=10
Any ideas?

Just paint them with Forever Black...seems they would match then.

forever black is the best quick-solution to fading trim, however not a permanent solution. I, for one am getting sick of working on my car to keep it in perfect condition, so I am very biased in saying if you're gonna do it, do so that you never have to think about it again.
I have tried BlackAgain(similar, but not-as-good as ForeverBlack) and am not satisfied. Forever black is the "longest lasting..." BUT, if its not permanent, then it is another type of polish. ForeverBlack is different because it has paint in it, yada yada yada... I am skeptical of how long it lasts. I haven't tried it so I can't say it doesn't work, nor how long it keeps trim black. But why not just paint the trim and forget about it? Painted trim looks cleaner, and you won't worry about waxing over it anymore.
I eventually did get to the bottom of that ipd project car by the way... ipd sent the car to a body shop and let them paint all of the trim and the lower bumper trim moldings. about $1300. If you remove the trim pieces yourself you could probably save some dough at the body shop, and save even more if you DIY with black(or colormatched touch up spraypaint).
soon, I will post vadis screenshots of how to remove trim moldings for your 850, and for the other guys with p2 V70.

The alternative to removing the trim pieces may just be: mask off the car very well to prevent overspray and paint the pieces whilst mounted on the car (patience is key). Safest, but most time consuming option is to remover the pieces.
