Hi,
I have been using premium gas, but I have been told that is not necessary. Can someone tell me whether or not I can use regular gasoline in this car?
Thank you.

you have a turbo...yes, premium...also synthetic oil if you haven't already changed to it. Read your owners manual...it will tell you about the grade of gas that is best for your car.

although its recommended you use high test (91 octane or higher)..This is on all turbos....On the other hand, I'd bet most dealers use only the lower grade...the car will run on 87 octane and most dealers won't spend the extra cost when there in the business of selling cars....It just runs much better on the higher octane....
IMHO if you change your oil between 4-5 thousand miles then regular
5/30 or 10/30 weight oil will be fine...Again this is only an opinion, others
will disagree....
The following is from experts on fuel far better informed/qualified than I..rmcpsu wrote:Thank you for your advice. But if I "can" use regular, why is it still recommended that I use a higher grade. What will the actual difference be to me as the driver? And also, what is IMHO? Thanks again.
"If your car requires high-octane gasoline and you habitually use regular because the engine exhibits no sign of knock, your outsmarting yourself.
Most modern, computer-controlled engines incude a knock sensor that detects knock and retards the ignition timing, causing the spark plugs to fire slightly later in the cycle. This typically prevents adnormal combustion and knock, which allows vehicles specified for premium fuel to run on lower-grade octane gasolne if it is all thats available. While this removes
the immediate hazard, its a bad idea...Retarding the spark causes a richer fuel/air mixture, which decreases fuel economy, increases emmisions, causes the engine to run hotter and reduces the longevity of both the engine itself and the catalytic converter...The money you save by pumping low-grade fuel into a car that recommends/demands higher octane is lost anyway, in decreased fuel economy and possibly gradual damage..." I hope this helps answer your question...

I agree....plus your car will not have the power that you learn to love. Lower mpg and not as much fun to drive= use higher octane gas for me.
