2002 C70 Stereo/CD SC-901

This is a 3-cd changer that will not work. The radio works perfect but can't get the cd player to work. Any help?

What happens when you put a CD in it?

Does it take the CD and then start skipping or does it not accept the CD at all?

It accepts the CD then starts jumping and skipping around w/out playing it. I tried a new cartridge at the dealership, but it still did the same thing.

Nearly every single one of these goes bad in time.
You have four choices, find a working used one on line as I did, ($75.00), exchange it at Volvo for a rebuilt unit with a warranty ($350), or find a used 6 disc trunk mounted CD changer.
The fourth (also what I did) is hook up satellite radio and forget about CD's. You can hard line wire it with a PA SPEC or a Blitzsafe and get almost CD quality sound with no problems.
(My wife still wanted to listen to her CD's, which is why I found a replacement radio anyway, her car)

It's my wife's car as well. I can't seem to find a used one on the internet. The local Volvo dealership wants $395 for a refurb unit. Know where to get a used one. I've tried ebay and salvage yards with no luck.

I just bought it and with the owner's manual tried to use 3 disc CD. Goes in but just does nothing. Tried several times. Now can't get the cartridge out. Anyone know how to get it out without damage and maybe tell me why it doesn't work? Thank you.

if the laser is cleaned and realined it will work 100% again

at the rate these are dropping at im even considering offerring this service myself

You should...it would keep many people from just pulling them out and replacing them.

When I got my 2001 C70 it wouldn't play certain CDs - cleaning the lens with a standard lens cleaner disk sorted this out.

Whenever the unit decides not to take / release the 3 disk cartridge, I find that hard-resetting it (pulling out and replacing the fuse) works. This hasn't let me down yet!

P.S. If you disconnect the unit's power you'll need to get the radio security code, which you can get from a dealer.
