antenna will not move
antenna will not move
i recently just got a '96 850 and im very pleased with it, except the antenna. When you turn the power on and off on the radio you hear the motor of the power antenna but it doesnt move (btw its stuck in the UP position) what do you guys think i should do?

You could try replacing the mast if you hear the motor moving, it may be that simple.

Could be the teeth on the thingy -- sorry, don't know what it's called (I can picture it in my mind), but I've read about em breaking or cracking with age. Try taking it apart and see what you get.
BTW, the mast is a maintenance item in the owner's manual. You should clean it and lube it at every service interval or every second -- see your manual for details.

I keep meaning to lube mine, with all the snow and crud it keeps getting stuck in the up position and when I get home I forget to do it because it's down.

Finally lubed it last night. Manual says to clean and lube with WD-40, didn't have any so I used Liquid Wrench and then used Silicone. Slick now boy.

i made a little toggle switch so i could turn the motor off (so i could leave it in one position) or turn it on and im sure that will be really handy when it starts snowing and freezing etc, so when i turn the car on or radio on the motor wont try to raise it up
