gas fumes 2002 V70 XC AWD

our V70 has gas fumes emiting from under the car. I have looked under the car from all sides and do not see a leak.

The car has 76,400 miles, we had the first major service job done in fall of 2006.

I read a post from 9/4/07 where you told the person that it might be an "evaporater value leak".
We also have a service engine light that comes on and goes of at times.

Does this sound like the same problem as 9/06 post?

You had told 9/06 to take his car to Auto Zone so they could test and retreve a code?? what is the code for and what would I need to use it for.

Not sure who told who what, but you can get your codes read at an autozone or just about any auto parts place. They use a code reader and hook it up to the OBD-II port (if you have a 2000 or earlier V70 it's in the arm rest between the 2 front seats...if a '01 or newer, it's below the steering wheel near the sound proofing panel). Once codes are retrieved, you can post them here and we can help you determine what part or system in your car is having the problem. If it's a Evaporative leak, then there are a couple of possibilities as to what exactly is the problem.
