Timing belt, 2000 S80 2.9
I have a 2000 S80 2.9 with 85k/mi. that I am selling. It has received regular service throughout and I have all the records. A prospective buyer took it to a dealer for an eval and the mechanic told him the timing belt should be replaced at 7yrs or 105k mi. whichever comes first. This is the first time I've heard anything other than 105k. Are they trying to scare the guy into getting the job done now for no clear reason?

Until recently all timing belt change intervals were given as a mileage or time depending which came first.
The Volvo service books now only seem to have the mileage but the belt manufacturers still quote a time interval.
The dealer is right.
