2000 S80 T6- Timing Belt Issue due to ETM Recall
2000 S80 T6- Timing Belt Issue due to ETM Recall
Due to the problems caused before the recall-will Volvo replace the timing belt under this extended warranty? When the dashboard would light up like a Christmas tree the odometer would freeze and not record the actual miles until the dashboard went back to normal. My car has 67,447 miles and I am the second owner. Also, when this happened the cruise control would would go in-opt. Love you guys!

I really don't know but I would say that Volvo will not replace or repair anything that seems unrelated to the ETM and this certainly does. To me it sounds more like a bad battery or at the very least bad ground points or corrosion on the battery terminal. Check these all out.

Mileage is above-since the mileage doesn't accumalte it is hard for the owner to know when the timing belt needs to be changed without going to the dealer and trust me they will charge you. After a long wait for the recall you would think they would fix any/all problems that were a result of the ETM. The domino effect.

The Timing belt is replaced at the 105k service.
The ETM shouldn't prevent the odometer from working, maybe the ABS module though.
Either way, if someone drove a car for 30,000 miles with the warning lights on and the odometer not working, I can't see how Volvo should assume any liability for that.
However the timing belt tensioner can fail before the 105k service, and they might be willing to help out if that is the case.
