Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

You name it it's happened.to me. Problem#1 after reseting ecm and starting car, everything is completely normal with no messages or lights. Before i can drive 50 or 60 miles , the Brake,ABS,STC lights come on and at the same time the Spedo, Tac, Temp Everything on instrument panel quits except fuel and message of ( Brake failure, Stop safely ASAP ) This car has had ABS Module replaced twice. First time ABS went out there was no effect to the spedo tac and rest of instruments and was fine for a year after replaced. Now when this happens engine will run without tac and spedo until destination but will not re-start without disconnecting battery for a few seconds .Another new ABS module has been exchanged with new and no difference. I wonder if the speed and tac. may be causing the ABS being trigered. What drives the tac and spedo?. Any one have a clue or suggestion ?

Uncletom, have you read this thread? P1633 Code Thread

Since you've replaced with a new box, maybe you have a bad connector or wiring harness on your ABS box? Perhaps a bad ground?

Great thread vegasjetskier.
I to expect to find something simple like a sensor or bad connection. When the controller went out a year ago my spedo and tac continued to work even during the time Mr Rocha was rebuilding the controller. Now it all comes down at the same time, and when you stop the engine it will usually not restart until you disconnect the ground terminal for a few seconds. After that the car is like new for up th approx. 50 miles. Volvo swears the controller needs replacing. I believe if i let them do this i would be no better off but down another Thousand, end up with a Bosh controller, and still the same problems. My OBD2 scaner had a P1633 code but it no longer shows any SDTs however the yellow ligit on tester stays lit. (codes pending?)I plan to give it a few more days with the other rebuilt controller and see if the same thing continues to happen. The two connectors look like new and engine is very clean for this many miles. Volvo in bellingham has highlighted on test report CEA-1A5F communication with ABS control module signal missing, and ABS-0095 Control module communication.
Had a new Brake booster installed at Volvo approx. two years and they said they flushed the brake fluids. I think i will flush out some and see if it still looks good. Have heard old fluid may cause this also. Maybe i just got charged for it. Will post if and when i find the answer.
