2000 V40 transmission shifting oddly

Our 2000 V40 has been shifting oddly lately. It will start out ok, but not shift into high gear. Yesterday it dropped down from high to second and stayed there for quite some time. Sometimes turning off the engine and restarting will cause it to shift properly again. The car has 90K showing on the odometer, has been well cared for, and runs great 99% of the time. No codes showing. Any insight as to what is going on, or worse, about to happen?

Has the transmission ever been flushed with new fluid? If not then I would suggest this especially if the fluid is dirty (brown or close to black) and not red anymore.
