Should I Buy An Extended Warranty? - 2004 S80 T6

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Should I Buy An Extended Warranty? - 2004 S80 T6

Post by Knucklehead »

I have two months left on my factory warranty. I have a $2,900 quote to extend this another six years. The car has less than 33,000 miles on it and is driven maybe 4,500 miles/year. The only problems I've had with it are ECM software glitches, which are supposedly fixed now.

Should I sink the money into the extended warranty or take the risk?

Thanks,

Knucklehead

From the experience I have had with our other vehicle......dare I mention another make, our GMC Envoy, I would recommend it.
Just make sure you know exactly what is covered or rather what is not!!!
We bought an extended warranty with a $100 deduction each time a "claim" is made. Unfortunately for us the vehicle had passed the 60000 mark and it was a little more expensive for the warranty which will take us to 140000km.
As a hockey family we are fast approaching that ,but thats another story.

My main concern was for the tranny(AWD) and the computers .
I wanted peace of mind and the dealer wanted a piece of me.
So we both got what we wanted. ...........I hope
