s80 2001 climate cluster lights

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

I think it's the same as our V70.
The V70 has a pen holder above the gear selector panel. Remove it by unclipping both sides using a weatherstrip tool (looks like a dull knife but made of plastic, or you could use a dull knife like a butter knife). Carefully insert the tool between the dashboad panel and the short sides of the pen holder. If you use 2 such tools from both sides, simultaneously, the job is easier and less chance of scratching things. (To install pen holder later, just press it into place.) Next, remove the panel (you'll never really completely remove it...it needs to slide around once it's loose so you have room for the next procedure) around the gear-shift by carefully prying it off from the back with the weatherstrip tool. Now, remove 2 screws on the lower edge of the environment panel where the controls are (panel above the pen holder)...they should be readily visible). This procedure sometimes gives people fits (ie: see stereo mod section at www.swedespeed.com ...where there are write-ups dealing with taking this panel out to get to the radio). To help with the removal, angle the dashboard environment panel outwards from the bottom so that it is possible to insert a couple of fingers between the center console and the environment panel. Then you can pull the environment panel downwards at the same angle. Force is required to remove it so don't wimp out here, but don't become a gorilla either. Once the panel is out enough to remove the connectors, disconnect them. Once the panel is completely lifted out, turn it over and you'll see where the bulbs go in. Turn the one you need to replace counter-clock-wise to disengage it from its holder. Installing the new bulb is the same in reverse...push down and turn.

Replacement of the Environment panel is the same as the instructions above in reverse. The panel has 2-sided tape on the back so make sure it's all intact...if not, replace what's come loose. Also note if any of the outer hooks broke off during your removal procedure...double sided tape is also suggested here. Press the panel in place so it fits snuggly.

Pictures that might help you with this are found here (for installation of a DVD in place of the radio but part of the procedure is the same):

Good luck and let us know how things go.
