2000 S80 2.9 engine surge

Hi all,
My wifes 2000 S80 is surging and sometimes it thrusts forward which is always fun but it doesnt do it all the time. The first time this happened was 2 years ago with 50,000 on it and it cost 500 bones I took it to an independant volvo service place. They told me they had to take the intake off and replace a filter or something. Well whatever they did it fixed the problem. But now it is doing it again at 82,000. I do believe I have had the software upgrade done about a year ago so is it possible that they need to hit it again with the upgrade?

Welcome to MVS.
What it sounds like to me is the ETM (electronic throttle module) which is covered by a warranty for 10 years or 200K miles. Check out the ETM section in this forum for details.

Thanks MIJ I was leaning towards that but just had to hear it from someone else. Give the dealer a call on Monday...
