I have a '93 960 SW ( a gift from my Daddy 4 years ago). It has around 190,000 miles on it now. Worked perfectly until the first of 2007.
In short, at first we thought a new battery was needed, so we bought one. The next day it was dead. Hubby suggested it might be the alternator, bought a new one, battery was dead in 2 days.
All the fuses have been checked out by a mechanic friend of Daddy, who has been trying to figure out what the problem is since June of 2007.
If you disconnect the battery from the alternator overnight, and reconnect it in the morning, all is well. Takes about 2 days if left connected for the battery to drain.
The only problem I had with it prior to this was sometimes the A/C would not work properly. It would run cool for a while, then the air would feel as if the fan were on.
The mechanic has checked everything over with a fine tooth comb.
If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it, because I love the car and enjoyed driving it.

Then I'd follow the FAQ file, they talk about this problem.
Its likely to be a problem in the charging circuit.
