TRUNK WILL NOT OPEN with remote OR manually with key 2000S40

Hi All,
My S40having issues with the trunk NOT opening.
The front and back doors work just fine but....no trunk.
Could this have something to do with the charge in the
remote battery? Is there anyway I can get it open by
pulling the seats down and lifting some sort of latch with a
screwdriver or??? I'm not incredibly mechanically inclined
but would definitely try a few things before I bring it into the dealership.
