Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.
When you have time read some of the posts on this site with regard to members' feelings about Volvo dealers and independent, or indie, garages. The consensus of opinion is if you have lots of money and want to get rid of some either go to a Volvo dealer or burn it. The second option is slower.
If the independent works on Mercedes he will have no problem with Volvo.
We support independent garages.
Bill.

Hi There I'm in the UK and I did my own service this time , on my D5 which I presume is the same , it's really dead easy if you have any DIY service abilty, The oil filter change requires a LARGE socket and the undercover need s to come off to access the sump plug .
The rest of it is just a question of checking things and greasing the hinges and other things . its all in the service book , the thngs that need to be checked and of course reseting the obligatory service light.
Good luck
Snoopy
