The driver's door window in my 1995 850T sedan started binding in the last few inches of upward travel. The problem seemed to come and go. Recently, the window refused to close, and appeared to have come loose from the regulator.
Figuring the car was due for a "regulator cassette," I got one from FCP Groton ($329, not a pleasure). In the course of fitting the new regulator and motor, I discovered the window is binding so badly in the top three inches or so of the guide weatherstrip that it's virtually impossible to close even by forcing it up with your hands. No wonder it caused the regulator to fail.
My question is, what gives here? Could the window guide weatherstrip have swelled over time? Should I be looking at something else? This is rather frustrating, especially after shedding plenty of blood from sticking my hands inside the door.
Any good ideas much appreciated!!

This window problem turned out to be a swollen window channel molding. Over time, it worked the regulator and the motor until they both failed. Replaced window channel and regulator cassette, and all is good as new now.

Was there some kind of window tracking you also replaced?
My driver's front window [probably has gotten the most use]
rattles a little. Maybe from the previous owner slamming the
door with the window part-way open?
