V70R Tires and Stereo

Hi -- Two questions: I am ready to get some new tires for my 1998 V70R AWD. I want something with a little more aggressive tread for winter, but not snow tires. I currently have Continentals. Any suggestions? I have read that Nokians are good.

Second: My driver's side speakers come in and out and of course I haven't been able to recreate this for the mechanics. It's annoying: sometimes the stereo sounds like a million bucks and sometimes like the sound is coming through a tin can. The place where I bought the car replaced the stereo because they said it was probably the amplifier, but that didn't solve the problem. No one seems to believe me that it's the speaker or speaker connection. Any ideas on this?
