1999 s80 t6 geartronic autobox is there a relay?

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

I have checked the system wiring diagrams for all variants of auto box on the S80 and the only relay I can find is the automatic transmission X-supply overload relay. It appears to be attached to the central electronic module behind the left side of the dash. It has two wires coming from it - Red connected to fuse C20 in the passenger compartment fuse box and Violet/White which goes to terminal 35 of the transmission control module.

i have ordered a vidas dvd but not got it yet.

oil changed today as stuck in limp mode. now that i know there is a relay behind the passanger glovebox, i will investigate it. i often hear a noise coming from there which sounds like a sticky relay.

i will let you know how i get on.

Now that I know you are from the UK the info is slightly different.

The info above was aimed at the US S80, which does have slight differences to ours. That is apart from the obvious, having the steering thingy on the wrong side. It does sometimes change the positions of components behind the dash so your central electronic module may be behind the right side of the dash.

However, the good news is that on my book for the UK model there may be a relay for the transmission system. It depends on when the car was built as opposed to registered. If it was built in 1998 it does not apply. From 1999 build onwards relay 16 on the number 2 fascia fuse/relay panel is for the transmission - worth a check. Also showing in the same book on the number 1 fascia fuse/relay panel fuse 20 is listed as transmission up to 04/00 and 21 is listed as the same from 05/00. Both worth checking.

The other thing that springs to mind - well not exactly springs, it just sort of crawled there - is if the fault which pushed you into limp home mode has been corrected the fault code will still be registered and will keep you in limp mode until it is erased.

I hope this is of some help.
