2002 S80 T6 Spark Plug Replacement

Post by RafDaddy 48 »

Ok I have worked on cars for lots of years and I know they are getting more complicated but when I decided to replace the plugs on my S80 T6 I am bewildered on finding them. It has 74,000 miles and it is probably time

I removed th top air intake pipes and (not sure of names here) and the aluminum cover. I saw the tube with the air valve which drians off fuel pressure. Behind that I saw what looked like six plug wires going into the block. I assumed the electrical wires that connect on top were the plug wires and removed them by pressing the release. I could now see the six orange plugs going into the block but they looked a little weird for spark plugs since I did not see how my new plugs from the dealer were going to fit in the smaller holes. I also realized that they were connected to the fuel tube across the top of them. I removed the two screws holding on the fuel tube and tried to pull it up an off. It did finally give and pulled the tubes out of the block. O Rings were fine but did not see spark plugs. I plugged them back into the block and put it back together. (I saw instructions on how to take the top apart but it just said after you remove the air tubes replace the plugs.)

Now the stupid question. Where are the spark plugs? Inside those orange covers? Thanks

On the top of the engine (under where the black tubes were) there is a long black plastic piece(well 1 small one and a longer one) held in place by I think 6 torx screws(t-20 or T25)......remove those and remove the plastic piece.... under that are six coil packs in a line.....its best to remove and replace one at a time.....after you pull the coil pack off its a good idea to shop vac out the hole before you remove the plug.......

The orange ones are your fuel injectors....you were close

Hope this helps
