Hi everyone, I'm new to Volvo. I need help with this problem.
Whenever I accelerate at highway speed and the transmission downshifts, I feel a split second vibration throughout the car, like running on a speed bump (the type of speed bumps where they cut narrow lines into the pavement, not the actual bump). I looked at my ATF, color or smell doesn't indicate burned ATF but I did notice the level being a bit high on the stick.
From reading the threads, I heard horror stories of angle gears and transmissions rebuilt. I bought the vehicle not too long ago and I don't feel like putting $$$$ into it. Hopefully, someone had this similar problem and it was a simple motor or trans mount....
Can anyone help me?
V70 AWD vibrating when downshifting
Some of the experts will probably post later, but I have a 98 V70 AWD, and it has downshifted from 4 to 3rd with an audible clunk for over 100,000 miles with no problems I'm aware of. Now that you mention the quick rumble strip sensation, it does remind me a little of that. I did have to replace a coupling at the front of the rear driveshaft, but that was several years ago and I still get the clunk.
