"jerkiness" when slowing down to stop in 2006 S80

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

"jerkiness" when slowing down to stop in 2006 S80

Post by BBB3 »

Hello, all.

I am the new owner of a 2006 S80 with 14k miles, and am noticing an issue that I hope someone has some knowledge of.

The car seems to be running beautifully until I am backing off the accelerator and reaching a low speed, such as when I'm coasting to a stop light. Then, the car seems to slightly jerk or lurch multiple times until I come to a stop. The same effect seems to occur under light acceleration until I get up to speed. The effect occurs when my foot is barely depressing the accelerator, or when my foot is off completely while coasting.

This is not a major problem, but it is somewhat irritating considering the car has so few miles on it. I wanted to see if anyone else has experience with this before taking it to the dealership. It has the 10yr-100K certified warranty in place.

Thanks,
Bates

Not heard of it but sounds like the transmission. The dealer has software upgrades for their transmissions so I would take it in to them especially if it's still under warranty.

I'll be taking it to the dealer. It almost feels like a throttle issue to me - much like someone is lightly pumping the accelerator.
