can anyone tell me what the battery does inside the engine fusebox?

Not really. If I had a battery somewhere in my car (not the main battery), I'd like to know what it was for.

hi,
my s80 has a small battery under the fusetray/relay tray.

i was asking what it was for because i suspected it to be a memory backup for the computer systems which store the fault codes.

i unpluged it overnight (and the main car battery) to see if it was, but it hasnt cleared the fault codes.

i dont know if other cars have them, but the s80 has.

It is a pity we can't combine this one with the other post on this topic as I have just posted my twopennorth on that one.

Les will know what the word in italics means as we both speak the same language.

For others struggling with the Geordie dialect try to obtain a copy of "Larn yersel Geordie". Even people from other parts of the UK can't understand when Geordie is 'taaked proper'.

Another thread-jack- sorry about this, but I stood in line today to register my car tags for another year. The guy behind me and I began to chat for a bit- a real hick from "these parts," and I swear I couldn't hardly understand a word he was saying- and he had teeth too!
