Inside heater fan clicking?

Post by chinotto »

Hi guys! I own a 1995 Volvo 940 (non-turbo) wagon. I've had a little problem for a while now but it's starting to get on my nerves :x .. When I turn on the fan for the inside climate controls, I hear this little clicking coming from what sounds like inside the airvents. The clicking will vary depending on the speed .. i.e. speed 1 - no clicking, speed 2-3 clicking, speed 4-5 no clicking. And sometimes no clicking at all on all speeds!!

To me this sounds like the blades from the blower,... but I'm not sure. And I don't know how to get to them to check!

Can anyone help me?
Seb

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

This must be the easiest Volvo heater blower motor to access. The designer who does nothing but add complications must have had a headache the day this one was made.

Disconnect the battery negative lead ensuring, beforehand, that you have the radio code.
Remove the glove compartment - 4 screws.
Remove the panel under the glove compartment - 3 clips.

You are now looking at the blower motor. Disconnect the blower motor connector. Remove the blower motor locking screw and take out the blower motor.
