V70, 2001, 140KKm, Volvo V70 Transmission Problems

Hi, anyone else had similar problem and what it takes to fix it? Thanks.

After driving in gear D for a while, the "D" on the dashboard switches to "-" (dash) and stays that way for the rest of the drive. None of the other manual transmission functions work when the dash shows in the dashboard (using the "Weather" switch or manually changing gears). The car drives like it is stuck in low gear and when this happens and does not switch properly from gear to gear. I stop, turn the car on and off, and wait. After a while everything goes back to normal. Also Transmission Service Required message is displayed.

Probably in need of a new PnP (park-neutral-position) switch, but others may know more about this and offer other advice.
