Hello,
I am a car enthusiast and have found out the forums are typically the best places to get real-world information on cars. Thank you for helping me out.
I am thinking of buying a 2004 Volvo S60 2.5T FWD auto, it has 46k miles, just serviced, new brakes, tires, etc. It is at a dealership and the price seems to be right ($13k). My questions are:
How reliable are these cars and this particular model? Any special maintenance or recommendations (ie tranny cooler, etc)? Do they seem to hold up after 100k miles? Anything specifically to check? Will the retarded timing due to running say a 89 octane fuel affect durability in the long run?
I currently have a 12 second TR8, so this car would be used solely for daily driving, winter, etc, and I would prefer to have a hassle-free, reliable car that could run on mid grade. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

04 with 45K for 13K? somethings up or about to go. low low retail for that car and that milage would be 14...maybe. id have it checked out and not just what the dealer said they did, might want to check bushings, tranny, and so on. maybe you just are getting a hell of a deal!
DJbibo,
I appreciate your concern, but the Dealer is my best friend who picked the car up cheap and contacted me bc he owned it for $12.5. He ran it through his shop (certified ford/lincoln/volvo/jaguar dealer) and they serviced it and replaced brakes, rotors, tires, etc.
It seems like it is a good deal, and if I don't buy it they will retail it on the lot. Some reviews rate this as a best buy, some are not so kind, so I just wanted to see some real-world knowledge/opinions.
Thanks!

sorry if i sounded rude or shocked. i actually have a 2004 2.5 turbo FWD with 60K on it. maybe im jealous! lol, but yeah its a great car and doesnt have the tranny probs the other years have. thats good you got new rotors, those arent cheap on this car but your good for another 50K at least on those.
if you have any questions or anything hit me up.

We just picked up a 2004 S60 with 2.4L, auto, 78K miles 3 months ago and we are extremely pleased with it thus far. I had my mechanic go thru it thoroughly when I first purchased it, as I had a short warranty with it. It feels like a brand new car and the suspension is very tight.
