Surging

My 2000 S70 has been surging for a couple of months now. You can mash on the accelerator and the car won't move...on the highway. Very unsafe and dangerous. The Mass Air Sensor has been replaced 3 times since August '03. I was just told today that I need a new Electronic Throttle Module at a whopping cost of $ 650 for the part and $ 570 for labor.

I have been complaining about it for a while...when it was under warranty. Now it is out of warranty and they suddendly found the problem. I have never missed a scheduled service.

Haa anyone seen the Tech Services Bulletin that was issued in July 2001 about Electronic Throttle Modules?

Please help. This is my first Volvo...and I am really disappointed. It spends more time in the shop then with me.

Thanks.

if you brought the car in for service during the warranty period, then it has to be fixed under warranty -- even if the car exits warranty before the problem is solved.

I had a surging on my s80 t6
The dealer replaced the MAFF sensor, the injestors and the fuel pump.
Found the fault went when he re-loaded the software into the ecu for the gear box and the main ecu for the engine management.
Hope this helps

If you do get stuck with buying the part check with Volvo Salvage in California, 916 635-9970.
