Brake Failure Stop Safely ASAP and other Service Lights

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Brake Failure Stop Safely ASAP and other Service Lights

Post by Timmah108 »

Hi All,

Here is my dilemma and I am hoping you can help. I have had my 2000 S80 2.9L for about 2 years now. The first year everything was fine no problems. Then very sporadically I would get ABS and SRS Service required messages. They were so sporadic I didn't pay any attention to them. Now in hind site I am thinking I should of paid a little bit more attention. Again sporadically I am getting messages but now they say "Brake Failure Stop Safely ASAP" and when/if that goes away I get "SRS Service Required" and "Power Steering Service Required". I have already ordered a rebuild ABS Module, I am waiting for it's arrival, but my concern is the Power Steering Error. Is that related to the ABS Module or is that something else entirely? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Tim

All of those codes could potentially be related to the ABS. The only one I'm doubtful about is the SRS (it may have a cause besides the ABS module). Brake Failure and Power Steering codes are both thrown by faulty ABS module communication.

Well, just an update. It has been a few weeks since the ABS module replacement and all seems well. No error codes as of yet.
