New owner of a 1999 V70 AWD R. Been searching for manuals. Found (1) a UK version of Haynes that covers thru 1999 but which may not cover smog staff or AWD and (2) a Chilton version that covers thru 1998. So no clear aftermarket manual.

Can anyone recommend a manual and source that could be more helpful or is this it! One book supplier actually laughed - pissed me off, but it had been a long day.

Those two are all I believe are out there -- bad news.

They will be very similar to your V70 -- good news.

The overlap between 850s and 70s is probably 85%+. AWD is almost certainly not covered in those books.

I noticed that you have strut brace on your 850. What's the purpose and does it deliver?

it increases handeling around corners. I'm going to add one myself, soon. Yes, they work quite well (I've installed one on my truck, and with sway bars, it really helps)

Yea, it stiffens the front. My 850 shakes a bit over bumps, so this makes it more solid. And that makes the suspension stay more 'fixed' in corners and over bumps.

Mine's an OMP, and I got it from an east coast (US) parts retailer for about $150.

Post back here before you install yours, and I'll give you some tips.

I would be interested if my 1993 850 could be fitted with such a brace. Do you have a good source and I would probably want detailed instructions before I attempted an install myself.

Most braces will work on any 850.
