Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

code P1618, P0751 on '01 S80 T6

Post by jborgwardt »

My transmission is acting up so I checked to see what codes came up and found two, P1618 and P0751. I cannot find out what the P1618 is and can it be fixed without having to put in a new transmission?

Codes are typical of a speed sensor malfunction too which can mimic transmission codes. Check to make sure it isn't the problem.

MIJ is correct, ABS and Vehicle speed sensor issues can mimic transmission problems in P2 cars. For your knowledge, P1618 is simply the "transmission MIL request" P-code. It means that the ECM (which controls the check engine light or "Malfunction Indicator Lamp" [MIL]) was asked by the transmission control module to turn on the MIL because the TCM has faults logged.
