S80 2002 STC

There is no STC switch in the center console, but when I start the engine the STC indicator light in the instrument panel flashes approximately 2 seconds and then goes off.

How could I find out - STC system is in my car or not?

No switch = no STC.

The instrument panel is a standard unit and the warning lights go through a check routine when you switch on the ignition. However, they are checking to show they are working, not the unit to which they relate.

Is that so? What is the use of putting a dashboard light of something that does not exist. Can I have a second opinion from other forum members.

Do you have a T6? If so it's standard, but you should have a switch to turn it off. If you have a 2.9, the traction control was an $1,100 option.

No, mine is not a T6 but a 2.0T. How then can I get this option and what componets should I purchase? Is it something I can install without needing a dealer?

Unfortunately it is not something easily installed. Even if you could install it, your computer would have to be changed to accommodate it. I hate to tell you but if you really desire/require it, you're better off selling your Volvo and buying another with this option. If you're going to go STC, then why not DSTC...it's actually much better and I don't know why Volvo didn't have this standard on all of their cars.

ooh dear. That should be it then. I will consider that in my future Volvo models. BTW, which Volvo models have STC or DSTC?

Most after 2001 do have STC...DSTC was special order (most dealers didn't order it), but I think almost all from model year '06 come with DSTC as standard...I know the "R" models did anyway.

I will have to live without the STC. My vehicle is later than 2001 though.

Dave, (or anyone who can help)

I see you're online. I have an issue with my STC/ABS on my wife's 2000 T6. Until I find a driver we're down to 1 vehicle and this is it.

Started last night. Got about an 2 inches of snow. When I try to accelerate I hear and awful "grinding sound". When I brake even slightly heavily I hear the same sound along with a horrible pulsation in the brake petal; like if your pads are shot and you have metal to metal contact.

Yes I checked Friday when I had an alignment done...pads are about 40%. Any ideas? Call me if you need to!!
