1978 242 parts locate?

Post by Steven242 »

Where can I find parts for this year of the 242?

I've searched the interweb several times with no luck.

I'm looking for the front right quarter panel, tail lights, and dash pieces (dash cap, center bezel and kick panels that go beside it).

Can any of you point me in the right direction?

Steven

I see quarter panels and such all the time on eBay.
I would also think that www.erievovo.com has the items you speak of. Go to their website and get their phone number and call them- they are horrible with emails.

Thanks for the link, but it seems they don't even carry anything for old classic volvos.

Ah, then it may be a matter of checking local junk yards/pick and pulls to see if they have a mid-years 240. Most do. I've pulled many parts off of 240's locally for our car ('91).

I'm waiting for an email from Eric, forgot his sn, but he had an add for a 77 242 he was parting out, and that's why I joined the site. Seems I got the car running good, just has a bit of a shake at idle, its not a constant shake, more like a random misfire that comes and goes... but the parts for the body and interior are hard as heck to find.

Check your small vacuum hoses and if the flame trap is stopped up. My friend's 740 was doing the same thing and I found the trap clogged and one hose broken. I just cut off the broken end and reattached it and all was well.

I'm leaning towards installing brand new injectors, cause I don't think the seals are all there, I can just unscrew the piece that holds them in, and they slide right out like nothing is holding them snug to the chamber, and when I pulled them out to do a test fire of them all, they seemed a little leaky, not too bad though.
